Around every corner there’s a hidden alleyway, a tiled wall or a staircase that takes you somewhere completely unexpected. We stumbled across this one entirely by accident and it turned out to be one of our favourite discoveries in the whole city. Escadas dos Guindais is a winding hidden staircase that twists and turns its way down from Batalha all the way to the Dom Luís Bridge.
