@kjp: When we moved into our house in 2018, Sarah found a little climbing rose tucked behind the holly by the garage. It had maybe four or five blooms on it. She trained it up the shutter. The next year there were a few more. Two summers ago she put up a trellis and started guiding it across the side of the garage. Now half the garage is covered in roses. I love watching the joy it brings her to tend to it pruning, tying, training, giving it somewhere to climb. A little forgotten rose became a thousand roses once someone helped it reach the light.
