Small shops are selling most items with only a Rs. 2 or Rs. 5 profit margin. Even if a shop has a daily turnover of Rs. 100,000, its actual profit margin may be just 2% to 5%. How can they afford POS machine charges, accountant salaries, and other compliance costs with such low margins?
If this act is implemented, these additional costs will inevitably be passed on to consumers. As a result, the prices of consumable goods, including food items, are likely to increase further.
Normally if a grocery store make a sale of Rs 100,000 per day, they get a profit margin of 10% which is Rs 10,000. But for milk powder and milkmaid they get only 5% from companies. Their monthly profit would be around Rs 300,000. If a grocery store has 3-4 staffs, they pay have to pay salary for them, pay electricity etc. How to pay taxes in this case? Through which money? Isn’t it better to claim taxes from those earning in crores like gem business instead of trying hard to claim from these grocery store owners

Average profit margin 13 to 15% in wholesale business, income tax + VAT more than 40% . In addition we have assessment tax, municipal tax, garbage tax. How do we keep prices low if the government keeps taxing the business ? they have to pass it onto the consumer eventually.

This is not the way government should apply, they using the very old system, i suggest them to follow how this is done by other countries, they should do a feasible study before implementing this..

VAT should be claimed. Sellers are making hefty margins. Hello Harsha today Retail is operating minimum GP of 30% this is TM, MT is making over 40 to 50%. Harsha you must sit with hands on experience business and retail specialist. Fix kind of VAT slabs on industry and product catogoy. You guys are good in talking, harsha to make it happen must apply the system.
