We’ve just got to hope somehow by some absolute miracle Starmer loses his head completely by Burnham putting pressure on him & call a general election

Burnham won’t call an election, he is power hungry too. Then things will get worse

Course he won't, Torys won't push and labour know there's new competition. Jobs would be on the line

Labour are wetting themselves because they won. The media are more concerned about Reform losing rather than Burnham winning.

I’ve never known someone to give up their seat to allow one of their own to then get the seat and then go for the PM job . It’s so wrong ! I think if your party doesn’t want you then Eva someone that’s already elected should go for it or you call a general election . Nothing else

If Burnham had lost it would have been a disaster for labour. Failing to win a safe seat against reform would suggest labour were finished.

Winning a by-election in a safe Labour seat is one thing. Trying to unite the PLP is an entirely different kettle of fish. Starmer is facing strong headwinds yes, but Burnham is potentially facing an F5 tornado. There are reports that the considerable Blairite and Starmerite factions are plotting to either contain or undermine a Burnham government. Starmer’s repeated statements that he will challenge any on comer is designed to strike fear into the backbenchers. Labour can ill afford a drawn out leadership contest. Then you’ve got the Burnham Blair war of words. In fact a Burnham Premiership could be even more chaotic and more unstable that Starmer’s. Also let’s not forget that Labour was demanding an election when the Tories changed from Truss to Sunak.

Regardless of a leadership contest or not, Regardless of a vote of no confidence, Starmer will still stubbornly refuse to go. Even if the entire labour party turn on him, I'm calling it now, he'll still refuse to budge.

tbf voting person not party is what Reform has too. People vote for Farage rather than Reform. My guess would be if Farage were to ever decide to move away from Reform many of the votes would leave too
