I was expecting you to say he advocated a different word replace "empty" on canisters with vapors. But I couldn't find any evidence of that.

The strong Sapir–Whorf hypothesis has been rejected for decades. Language influences thought; it doesn’t determine it.

I worked in a understaffed nursing home impatient for those needing pain meds. Dismissing them with "I just gave it to you". I suggested the point at the always visible clock and say "it's due in an hour I'm keeping an eye on it for you." it made a huge difference for both parties. They gave me a special award when I left the position for the suggestions

Nice! Learning about determinants of behavior, including perception, is critical to countering the Fundamental Attribution Error. So much of what we do is determined by factors we’re not even aware of. So, let’s cut each other some slack and focus on causes rather than “free will”.

Hello, I must disagree.
1) English has a single, individual words for light blue and dark blue: azure and turquoise, for example. Azure has existed in English since the 1300s. Turquoise has been an English word for almost as long. So Russian had no special linguistic nuances that English lacked.
2) Even if English did indeed lack a single word for the idea of light blue, that does not mean that the idea could not exist. An idea can be understood even if there is not a single word to express it. One could simply use two words together: light and blue. A hyphen could even be used to join together the two words to emphasize. English is indeed very efficient at creating single words to express single ideas, but that does not mean that an idea has to be expressed as a single word. There are plenty of ideas that cannot be pressed as a single word.
