You do know caulk is supposed to have a concave to it to allow it to flex and makes it stronger a flat bead will fail also you are just smoothing it out not pushing it in to allow proper adhesion

Dude….. buy a trowel and stop using any liquid to towel it. Dry towel and push the caulk in for proper adhesion.
