@rulerlesscasey: Being good at money is a skill. And like any skill, it can be used for good or evil. There's an idea out there that entrepreneurship is some kind of higher, nobler path. It's not. ANY career path can yield growth for the individual and value to humanity. And money is only one measure of that, and arguably not the best one. #successmyths #humaneleadership #moneymyths #selfhelp #logicalfallacies

Thank you for the HONEST assessment of our world. As a college kid I used to believe tech would solve all big problems.. I now recognize its role in exacerbating them

YEP. I work in social sector consulting. It's common for people who have been successful in business and made lots of money and then decided they want to do something more meaningful to become social sector consultants. They assume - and so do many others - that their success at making money means they're cleverer then the silly poor social sector leaders, and they implement their clever business thinking in social sector organisations. But it turns out that making money is different than making social impact, and making social impact is harder, and the ways you make money don't translate to making social impact. But everyone assumes these business practices must be good, so they keep doing them. And the social sector people who have been doing it for decades and KNOW what it takes don't get listened to, because if they were really clever they'd have made money, right? It's messed up. But we've decided that people who do the most good are meant to not care about money, and aren't allowed to make good salaries, despite doing extremely hard important work that really helps people.

you get rich by solving valuable problems, not hard problems. they aren't the same.

Yep! Rich folks are often the people who learned how to people please, manipulate or play a perfect role. And a small portion get rich from true service. - as a biz coach of 8 yrs. We have to learn how wealth is built, because if we think service will make us rich, that is such a lie and it’ll never end. It’ll rob you before you ever realize how it works.

Yes! Plus, people with little money solve problems on a daily basis that the richest people in the world would never be able to with the same budget

yep. capitalist philosophy. over 200 years old. based on the idea of compensation. heavily recycled in the modern entrepreneurial and sales world as motivation to excel. spiritually merged with the concept of "do good, get good". thanks for sharing! important to dismantle distorted half truths floating around.

As a serial entrepreneur I 💯 agree. The people who are focused on making money will make more money those who are focused on helping humanity go a different path.

As a trauma therapist and educator that works with the most vulnerable and hopes to make an impact that is also dedicated to doing this work until I’m wheeled out to the retirement home. I’m just thankful that at the very least I get to see a little bit of my impact one little person or family that no longer feels hopeless at a time. So yes not all value is measured in money and success doesn’t always fill up your bank account. I guess that’s why my husband calls my private practice our “non-for-profit” 😂 I’m good with knowing I will leave this world a little better than I found it.

All the real hard problems are solved by collectives, mostly communities, non-governmental organizationds and sometimes governments when society make them do, because solving hard problems don't win elections...

Money is also completely made up so any argument about the “value” of money ends before you even try to defend it in any way.
