Built in 1966, Vidraru Dam stands 166 meters tall and curves elegantly for 305 meters across. It holds back the waters of Lake Vidraru, a man-made reservoir spanning 870 hectares, harnessing the power of the river to generate hydroelectricity. The sheer scale of the dam is overwhelming—up close, it’s a reminder of how small we are, yet how capable. The dam was a feat of engineering for its time, designed to produce 400 million kWh per year, powering the nation’s dreams.
