In order to get fired and be denied unemployment, ALJ’s usually look to see if what the employee did was malicious or negligent. Attendance issues or making mistakes don’t usually get your unemployment denied. You’ll want to demonstrate you tried hard and wanted your job. That helps a lot. You can get unemployment if you’re laid off. I have seen that sometimes severance will impact that, though. It’s very difficult to get unemployment if you quit.
