Prickly Pear will grow anywhere. They're invasive. We eat the pads and the fruit here in GA, but we grow them in pots so they dont take over our yard.

Yep! They just need full sun, and well drained soil. My sister has a huge patch of them in her yard. They bloom too.

Cactus can grow here and it comes back yearly! It’s specific kinds only though. You can actually buy it at local greenhouses and they will tell you how to overwinter it and everything. I know this because I grow it myself.

Eastern prickly pear! In October they shrivel up and flatten down to the ground so they can freeze with as little water in them as possible with the snow insulating it from the worst of the cold. They’re a neat plant!

Prickly Pear. I've seen them in Minnesota but more so in Western South Dakota especially in the Sandy areas. I actually dug one up while I was working out there and had it for like 8 years
