Etymology nerd has already explicitly justified racism. After the Epstein files came out and it was revealed Epstein called non Jews “goyim”, he made a video defending the use of that word. He said it’s not a slur even though it refers to a racial outgroup.

basically its totally valid, important even, to engage with the more problematic areas of your study, but when youre a communicator too you really have to spell out that your are explicitly not justifying or normalizing the problematic aspects, or in his case, kind of accidentally fall into your own deterministic trap like you said I guess?

I think this accusation requires a few things. 1) EtymologyNerd has methods to counteract the trend that he withheld. 2) that linguistics (especially contrarian subgroups) would respond to such efforts. 3) such efforts could be relayed and empower members of his audience.
