I get asked this question all the time, so thought it was worth posting about it! There are so many different paints out there, it can be confusing to know what’s best. I’ve used a couple of all surface paints before - Little Greene’s Intelligent Emulsion in the living room (colour Hicks Blue) and Johnstone’s trade acrylic durable matt. I’ve been impressed with both but if I needed something really hard wearing on woodwork, then I would personally use an eggshell. In our bedroom we used Benjamin Moore paint (colour Vintage Vogue) - emulsion over the walls, coving and ceiling, then eggshell on the skirting, door frames and wardrobes. You’ll need to prime woodwork first before using a top coat. If you’re panelling a whole wall then use the same emulsion over it all, after priming the panels. This will give an even finish. However if you’re doing dado height panelling then you could use eggshell on this section and then emulsion above if you prefer - it depends how hard wearing you need the panelling to be. For example in a hallway or kids room, eggshell would probably be best. Hope that helps but feel free to ask any questions! #colourdrenching #panelling #bedroomdecor #howtocolourdrench #edwardianhouse
