@christian.grossi: American traveler shares strange experience in Japan Japan is one of the most beautiful and welcoming countries in the world. However not all the time. The Japanese people are very friendly but they are people of tradition. And some of them like to keep to themselves and avoid any contact with foreigners. Many restaurants, bars, stores will say Japanese only. And well you shouldn’t even walk in there. But the one thing I wish I knew before coming to Japan was being turned away from restaurants. Many times it’s an older Japanese person who doesn’t speak very good English and u may only hear “closed” or “full”. This is there way of saying I am too busy and don’t want you to wait a long time.
