They had a name. They had a warm lap. They had a human who looked into their eyes and promised, “I’ll take care of you forever.” And then that human threw them away like yesterday’s trash. One unspayed female cat can bring 19 kittens into this nightmare every year. 19 little souls who will never know what it feels like to be safe. To be full. To be loved. You’re rushing to work or class tomorrow. You’ll walk right past them. But they won’t walk past you they’ll watch you with those exhausted, desperate eyes, wondering if today is the day someone finally stops. Please stop. Pack a pouch of food. Bend down.
