The greatest compliment I ever received as a mathematics major was overhearing a conversation between two of my professors and one of them joked that he used my papers for his answer key. Thank you Profs. Lau and Sulsky, you made me feel seen and validated.

Yeah there was a physics problem that hinged on an assumption you had to make (the applied force was higher than force due to friction. ) . And it was multiple choice. F/2 and zero were the two possible answers that were correct. Not that I’ve been stewing on that since 1978. No, no. I’m fine. 50 years you can get over anything. Sort of.

Retired math teacher. Start with the top student’s paper. Look carefully at their ‘mistakes’. Saves a lot of time when the mistake was mine and not theirs. It happens.

I had a argument with a teacher in year 6 over a math question. I was right and she marked me as wrong cause the answer sheet wasn’t right🤦🏼♀️. She hated me after this cause a 11 year old child proved that she was wrong.

I was in college an I am a math major. I was helping my niece with her Algebra. My niece had the answer key but they had to shower the worked problem. Came across one I didn’t have teacher same answer I worked that problem front back side diagonal no match so I asked her to ask her teacher what I was doing wrong. I was confident my answer was correct so I she asked and long story her teacher said why isn’t your aunt a teacher. 🥰

I do an item analysis on every test. I use response patterns to indicate good and bad questions or concepts I did not teach well.

When I taught I used to intentionally create a problem on quizzes that had no correct multiple choice answer. If it got brought up they got extra points because I knew they understood the concepts.
