I mean 'Robin hood canon' in itself is a misnomer. Most of the commonly known aspects of Robin Hood like Maid Marian or the whole 'steal from the rich thing' are additions made in retellings of the story. They're basically Robin Hood fanfics and that's what makes the story great. You can really play around with tone, story, characters, etc
