For this exact reason I’m only booking morning showings or 2/3 weeks after the film has released 🥲 cinema etiquette has disappeared for some reason… I went to Toy Story 5 on a Friday night 3 weeks after it had released and still someone was checking their phone every 10 minutes on full brightness like they’re in the living room watching tv 🤦🏻♂️

The cinema is basically the only subscription I pay for and it’s getting ridiculous how often I have to tell people to be quiet. Watching a film without talking through it is a pretty basic social contract. Cinemas need to do a much better job enforcing it.

I stopped going cinema for this reason and staff at cinema didn’t do anything. It’s shame as I used to enjoy going watching a film.

Honestly I’ve felt exactly the same for a long long time now. It’s a gamble whether or not you get a decent audience that just enjoys the film. We recently had laughing happening when we saw obsession. Took me out a lot of scenes and it’s sad, the cinema is such a favourite thing of mine to do.

HEAVY agree on this. The cinema is my escape from life, but I’m starting to look at how many people have booked when I’ve booked, and if there’s too many, I won’t go. Only exceptions being for opening weekends of films I’m desperate to see, but it’s just so frustrating

Went to go and watch the Mandalorian yesterday, the guy sat next to me was just sat on his phone for the entire film. Generally what’s the point in going if you’re even going to watch the film

Its a huge issue. This is why I tend to go and see a movie after it's been out for a few weeks during a weekday so it's not very busy.

same thing happened to me and the cinema worker also just gave them a warning and didn’t do anything. i’m truly grateful to have a tiny local cinema that is barely ever busy, and if it is, everyone is very respectful like a decent human being. for some reason etiquette in cinemas is just gone, along with decent concert etiquette.

I love going to see horror movies, but I feel like they attract the worst audiences at the cinema 😭 the only time I have a peaceful experience nowadays is if I'm the only person in the cinema lol

yep. It's been such a gamble now. I'm aiming for lunchtimes at weekend or daft times on the weekday. Even then pot luck.
