@cedaret1: his is one reason poor people stay poor. And it's not their fault. Charcoal: 5 cedis/day × 30 days = 300 cedis/month Gas: 120 cedis. Lasts 8 months. That's 15 cedis/month. Same outcome. 20x cheaper. But here's the thing — they know. They just can't afford 120 cedis at once. So they pay 5 cedis today. And 5 cedis tomorrow. Poverty is expensive. The fix? Buy in bulk whenever you can. It's cheaper. Always. 💬 What do you buy in bulk to save money? Comment below. #MoneytalkGH #GhanaFinance #realtalk #SmartMoney #FinancialLiteracy

This is really true comparing to the 399gh bundle I buy from MTN. It sometimes lasts for 4months and some people think it’s expensive but don’t realize 10gh cedis bundle per day for a month is 300gh

“Poor people will remain poor” in this context feels like an oversimplification. Charcoal or gas isn’t just about ‘good or bad financial decisions’….it’s about access, upfront costs, convenience, and even culture…In many places, people use what’s practical for their situation at the time, not because they’re stuck in poverty….reducing it to ‘poor people thinking’ misses a lot of context

In my house we use both lpg and charcoal, we don’t buy 5 cedis everyday as per your comparison, we buy it in the big suck bug form(which is roughly around 150-180 cedis). We use either based on the quality of food we cooking and we cook a lot at home. Your comparison from my point of view is biased based on your experience which is understandable but the “but the poverty point of view” just based on charcoal usage is tooo extreme. Yes I believe buying in bulk is wayyy economical

I get your point and I always tell people that but sometimes the money just no Dey in bundle and most people eat on hand to mouth basis so they literally in survival mode. Buying a cylinder koraaa some will have to take loan to buy it. It’s sad 😔

We agree with buying in bulk, but the situation where the person does not have the cash to buy in bulk, you can’t just blame them

Being poor / middle class is expensive than being rich ! You pay everything in full and get bad service! You always live on the edge , panicking , anxiety etc ! It’s sad
