@itskaylajaiden: A lot of white Americans don’t know the history of Juneteenth because America spent 156 years treating it like it wasn’t important enough to teach. Black communities kept this tradition alive for generations while the government, schools, and institutions largely ignored it. If you’re just now learning the history, that’s not an accident. That’s what happens when a country waits a century and a half to officially acknowledge something!
I am a direct descendant of an enslaved woman who learned she was free in Galveston, Tx on June 19 1865. Today I own land that I inherited from her, that she received with her freedom papers 🖤 my family has always celebrated and our roots are now in Detroit, MI

No one has ever noticed we don’t celebrate the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s because we weren’t free until we were all free.

You missed out Opal Lee’s story and how she worked diligently to make it become a national holiday. She’s 99 years old today.

As a white person with so much love for people, diversity and culture I thank you. For being brave and sharing such an important time in america that not many know enough about. And For showing others it's ok to love and support everyone despite what color we are.

independiente del tema que comentes, siempre me pareces muy didáctica y al narrar temas de la historia de USA me sorprende lo poco que conozco sobre tu país, aparte de lo típico que muestra la industria cinematográfica.
