@kpssafaris: A heart-stopping encounter in the Kruger National Park with a huge elephant bull in full musth. At first, the bull appeared calm, but the situation changed quickly as he turned his attention toward our open safari vehicle and started moving after us with incredible speed and power. During musth, male elephants experience a massive increase in testosterone levels, which can make them more unpredictable, highly alert, and less tolerant of anything entering their space. After reading his behaviour and warning signs, we safely created distance while respecting the power and dominance of one of Africa’s most impressive animals.
