@journalinghome: Part 19 – The Mirror I’ve been feeling really emotional about the betrayal lately. The kind of emotional that sneaks up on you when you think you’re doing okay. The kind that has you standing in front of a mirror, picking yourself apart. Comparing. Comparing my almost 40-year-old body to bodies ten years younger than mine. Comparing a body that has carried pregnancies, birthed babies, survived sleepless nights, heartbreak, stress, anxiety, and years of putting everyone else first… To a body that hasn’t lived my life. And that’s not fair. Not to me. Not to the woman I’ve been. I felt like I was finally starting to take care of myself. Eating better. Going to the gym. Looking at my reflection and trying to appreciate my body for what it has done instead of criticizing it for what it looks like. But betrayal has a way of making you question everything. Including yourself. Including your worth. Including the things that never needed questioning in the first place. I need to give myself grace. There is no playbook for betrayal. No guidebook for separation. No medicine that erases heartbreak. No shortcut through grief. And there certainly isn’t a cure for loving someone who broke your heart. So instead, I’m trying to turn that love inward. Trying to heal what was broken. Trying to learn how to love myself all over again. That doesn’t mean I won’t have days like today. Days where I cry at work. Days where I hold it together for everyone else while quietly falling apart. Days where I wish this hurt didn’t exist. Because it does. And as much as I hate it, it’s part of the process. So today I’m reminding myself of something I hope I never forget: Love yourself first. Feel the emotions when they come. Don’t run from them, but don’t live in them either. And remember that you loved someone with your whole heart. You stayed loyal. You stayed committed. You showed up. That counts for something. And one day, I hope I’ll look in the mirror and see what everyone else sees. A woman who survived. #themirror #betrayaltrauma #seperation #onedayatatime #startingover

I’ve always looked up to you and your sisters and admired you so much. In my eyes, you’ve always been the cool girl. You have so much going for you, and I wish you could see yourself the way I see you. You are incredibly strong, beautiful, and resilient. I know this chapter of your life feels really hard right now, but I hope you never forget that there are people who see just how amazing you are and haven’t thought anything less of you for a second. You are valued, loved, and admired more than you know. ❤️
