@iamjustananimal: Replying to @Bunnicula 🩸🐰 I needed some “glass beads” for my embroidery in my specific color palette, but instead of waiting for online shipping and contributing to more single use plastic waste, I decided to melt my baklava take out container and create the exact beads I needed :) #handmadebeads #upcycledart #reducereuserecycle #shrinkydink #anticapitalist
Just to clarify ya’ll, the plastic fumes are not good for your brain! Go to your local hardware store and invest in a fume mask! And ventilate as much as possible if you’re not outdoors. I was just saying the challenge and puzzles of making your own beads is good mental ✨enrichment. But protect your brains! 🧠

It also means you remove the carbon footprint from manufactured beads or sequins being shipped to you and that’s so girlypop

Heyo!! i replied to one of OPs comments, she asked me to repost here! so first of all, i would always highly recommend getting a decent respirator! they are incredibly useful in everyday life (i think all people should have one but artists in particular!). If you are going to be working with fine particles, dusty environments, or any type of potentially harmful gas/smoke, a respirator will protect your lungs! Plastic burning will always let off some amount of toxin you cant avoid, even if in a well ventilated location, so one should be used as often as possible.

Hi Im in school for fibers and I do a LOT of embroidery, can I get a list of materials/ a tutorial on how you make your own beads/sequins? They look so awesome and I'd love to reduce waste like this!!!!
