@metatouch: Plantar fasciitis is often treated like a foot problem, but the tension can travel through the entire posterior chain, including the plantar fascia, calf muscles, hamstrings, and even the hips. If you’ve been doing calf stretches, rolling your foot, or trying different pain relief techniques without lasting results, this mobility exercise may help. Place a pillow under your ankle and straighten your knee as much as possible. Use a towel or pillowcase around the ball of your foot and toes. Pull yourself into dorsiflexion while keeping tension through the foot. Then gently push against the towel like you’re pressing a gas pedal and hold for 15 to 20 seconds. This isometric contraction can help calm muscle tension, improve mobility, and reduce stress through the plantar fascia and posterior chain. By addressing tight calves, hamstrings, and fascial restrictions together, you may notice less foot pain, better ankle mobility, improved flexibility, and more comfortable walking. This exercise may help with plantar fasciitis, foot pain, heel pain, tight calves, hamstring tightness, ankle stiffness, poor mobility, muscle tension, fascial restrictions, recovery, movement quality, posture, and overall lower body function. Pain relief starts by finding the source, not just the symptom. Call or text 310-795-6305 to book. 📍 Culver City, California.

I've had it twice. There has to be more of a reason than tight calves. My mom is 80 and got Plantar fasciitis for the first time in her life. is this some sort of an inflammation problem?

Wear a night splint for like a month every night. If you wake up and gotta release the tension, do so. You won’t be able to tolerate 8 hours at first. Or maybe not every night even after you’re used to it. But getting a few hours stretched consistently will dramatically help.

I feel as though I’ve had this for decades and it’s led to all types of ankle and foot issues. I tried this and calf is soooo tight. Thank you for the exercises, this leaves me hopeful 😁

What if you are hyper mobile and can’t stretch that area? The towel literally does nothing.

Came across another video that suggested the exact opposite: for the last example in this video where you grab your toes, rather than stretching/pulling them back, you push them in & hold. Thoughts?
