This is gonna sting: your glutes are flat is because you starve yourself and run on iced coffees until 12pm, do endless cardio, take random workout classes with the same 5lb weights you’ve used for the past 2 years, and you never ever lift heavy because you’re terrified of getting “bulky”. I say this from a place of sincere love because I made ALL of those mistakes. I used to be that girl. I was stuck in the “skinny fat” phase for so long. It didn’t click until I spent hundreds of hours this year educating myself on the science behind body recomposition and realized how f*cked up diet culture is - it will have you stuck on a hamster wheel of constantly trying to get smaller and smaller with no results. The problem with short petite girls like us is that WE DO NOT NEED TO GET SMALLER. We need to get STRONGER. You need to BUILD into your dream body rather than shrink into it. If you want to look sculpted and toned, you need to BUILD muscle because right now you barely have any!!!! which is why despite losing the weight you still look “flabby”. Stop trying to lose weight. Weight loss is NOT the answer. Focus on building muscle which will give you shape. Once this finally clicked, everything changed for me and I started seeing real results. What did I do? You need to fuel yourself properly by eating 3 real meals a day with snacks in between, eating at LEAST 1g of protein per lb of body weight daily, picking up weights that are so heavy you can only do 5-10 reps and need to rest 3-5 minutes in between each set, getting rid of all your cardio and just walking 10k steps daily for a while (trust me on this), and setting your main goal of getting stronger in the gym. Because the stronger you get, the more muscle you will build, and the more muscle you build, the more sculpted and toned you will get. For your glutes: do hip thrusts, barbell squats, Bulgarian split squats, and RDLs. Repeat the SAME exercises week after week and progressively overload by increasing the weight or reps over time.
