As a girl who recently got into gothic literature, my first book was Frankenstein. And one of the most profound messages from the character Frankenstein was that he realized that he was pursuing an ambition that was outside of his bounds as a human being. And he vocalized the importance and beauty of people who could adopt the mindset of “viewing your own little reality or little setting of your life as the world itself.” In the pursuit of his ambition he sacrificed, family, friends, and even his joys of watching nature changing through the seasons. Sometimes I think we romanticize the passion of hard work to the point where it consumes you, and never take a look at the cost of what you leave behind. Sometimes to me, the most meaningful life is one where you don’t feel pressured to be ambitious. You may even have no desire to be, so that then opens the door for a fully fulfilled life because now you leave yourself open to creating new experiences for yourself without a rule of how to do it. Children in their youth may not have ambitions but their life and experiences they create always seem a bit brighter and more whimsical than adults. So maybe we’re the ones missing the plot✨These are just my thoughts❤️

MIA talked about this in an interview. She's got some issues but yeah she said something about how growth is always measured societally by like a corporate model. And it's just not the truth

Yes, the privacy of many people's deeply fulfilling and enjoyable life is a feature, not a bug. I'm not a particularly ambitious person in a lot of ways. I love my simple house painting business, my four children, my wife, and my three dogs. They are their own reward. No publicity needed. Painting is deeply satisfying because it gives me hours every day to think and ponder. I like to share a little bit of my thinking on particular topics on social media, but 99% of my life is lived in private. That's part of why it's so wonderful for me.
