Been a type 1 for almost 47 years. I’ve been scared about passing a test while in school, but scared about being diabetic nope.

I think the best method for me is for people to explain the disease process and its complications, and then how to manage them. I don't think it needs to be scare tactics. I think doctors need to explain rather than give the worst-case scenario. You can scare someone into compliance. They have to want it for themselves. No one is going to take care of their help if they are not willing and not ready to hear it. Doctors can scream til sky turns green. It doesn't change unless the patient is open and willing to change.

Fear pushed me in to diabetic fatigue. I just quit caring. I got it together finally. Encouragement and positivity is what got me managing correctly.

That need to be scared take from the commenter is like people who defend being cruel by calling it tough love.

I agree. Fear mongering is not an efficient way of managing T2D
