alr look man I'm talking as a person who LOST 100% of 4 years from his life in his teenage life, and yes maybe I did make 0 progress from it but if I still be sad about it or maybe even depressed about it, I will not gain anything except more time lost, so try to step on your past as lessons to growth to climb the ladder of life, this one has taken so much time, yes but if you man up and step on it the other steps in that ladder will become easier, and that's what we call growth

Last year my birthday was actually sad because I woke up expecting a happy birthday from my family like every other year and then I realized they all forgot even my mom did. They only remembered at 5pm and they admitted they forgot so they didn’t even try to do a surprise
