Im shocked people don't know about the underground railroad, I mean it may have been just my class, but we read a book about the underground railroad from just after slavery was outlawed. It's how I learned about it

I just watched this plot line and immediately was like “oh my god, this is based off of house slaves and the Underground Railroad”. How do people constantly forget that this show isn’t a prediction, it’s based on things that *already happened*. Anyone with basic knowledge of American history should have gotten the reference immediately, I’m so concerned you even had to explain this 😭
