So this makes me think of what China is currently doing. They are aligning themselves with the third world, and breaking them off from US reliance, which reduces the efficiency of US sanctions. They are using an alternate currency which is largely digitized, and not tied to the US petrodollar. And this is all controlled by a government structured like a vanguard party where power must come from the lowest level of governance and local representation

Great take. The western left is still arguing from the same pre-1991 talking points. The failure to adapt largely explains why Cuba is where it is now vs China.

You are definitely correct about needing a different strategy but there is no socialist camp currently- it’s just Bourgeois classes of capitalist countries competing against each other with the aid of governments in places like Africa basically acting as petite bourgeois and stealing from their own people-

Not bad, but these conditions aren’t what they appear to be. US dollar hegemony places horizons on policy of the bourgeoisie, but that’s already breaking and what is emerging is not a socialist bloc but a competing capitalist bloc bound by the same logic of capital which produced the current situation. Similar to what we had pre-WW1. The locus of capital has shifted and will again. It’s still a matter of the proletariat to actually take up the activity of class struggle which these geopolitical clashes may or may not provide an inroad for.

Marx and Lenin talked about this. Why do you think Lenin calls Imperialism the highest stage of capitalism. Because debt is the new form of slavery. If you read the book he says the financial architecture is the driver of slavery, colonialism and neocolonialism.

The control being through "debt, sanctions etc" is what Lenin talked about in Imperialism, and why he was an actual continuation of Marx instead of Kautsky. Marx and Lenin would still be critical of the "global south", because while there is an attempt to break with US dollar, they aren't breaking with capitalist social relations.

I like the passion. Russia benefitted from sanctions. Sanctions is about what is on the inside not outside. Sanctions are a problem because of what is and is not there before. If Joseph Stalin was here the USSR would also be here making much of your point moot. Many would probably have more explicit theories on working with the and in the land and nuclear power. We still live in the age of imperialism and the USSR and the Eastern blocks overthrow only made Lenin more relevant. the Communist world going from between ½ and ⅔ to only ⅓ makes Marxism-Leninism and Mao Tse-Tung thought(which is straight-up just decentering completely the industrial working class as a force or accepting their absence completely) that much more valid and relevant. Just because you are under 50 doesn't mean these truths stop being truths.

I agree, but breaking the hold of US dollar cannot be done without militant organizing at the same time, the only reason why they hold this monopoly is bc they force it through violence

I feel like for US citizens, we really need to study NYCs collapse in the 70s when capital decided not to purchase city bonds for social services to take control from democratically elected officials and institutions. Hypernormalization by Adam Curtis briefly talks about this.

the best option is industry wide strikes. sadly, a large portion of general still isn't onboard with practically any form of activism, only select people and groups are protesting
