I live in Puerto Rico and here solar companies are putting clauses on the contracts that put the house that they put the solar panels in as collateral if they don't pay. It's a huge problem because if someone decides to sell their houses, there's a binding agreement with the previous owner. That put you at risk as the new owner because of that contract that they signed.

That’s not even the worst part once those solar panels are on the roof and then you have roof damage when you take it down the solar panel company is usually out of business and the roofing company is not putting the solar panels back on

Bought a house in 2021 that had existing lease. I don't really want them but I will say my electricity cost is static until 2034. I pay a fixed rate for electric and my electric bill last month was only like 110 which is maybe 33% of what people around me are paying. However, if I ever need a new roof I'm SOL. Hope the roof holds up till lease is up
