@itsdrsam: #stitch with @angel 🍉 You’re on to something and my new research on High-Functioning Survival Mode™ starts to untangle the connection between CPTSD, trauma, neurodivergence and the results of being stuck in survival mode. I’m talking more about this at a free webinar on July 1st! Join if you’re interested.
Inflammation of the brain and stomach. Most of us have co-occurring conditions that have to do with autoimmune and stomach problems.

this is so interesting because i def have CPTSD. while i don't think im autistic i did get tested multiple times for ADHD and my psychiatrist said that someone who experienced as much trauma as i did may present as having symptoms of ADHD but its actually just that because i've been through so much trauma, my brain is focused on survival and keeping me safe and therefore i present w symptoms of ADHD but i dont actually have it

Instant follow. I work with children and I often having conversations where children who have experienced trauma are being diagnosed with autism but their trauma isn’t taken into account for their behavior. I’d love to read more on this because this topic is very current and needed in discussion when looking at diagnosing children. Thank you for contributing to the field

Some girl did a study on this. That it’s actually stress that’s been imprinted on the body or something like that

Trauma is passed down!!! It’s something I learned in my psychology class. A trauma that happened to your great grandmother could still be traumatic for you

this is very interesting! I've been diagnosed with autism and cptsd. In my case, I have always had traits of autism, but because I went undiagnosed until I was nearly an adult I did not recieve the care or support I needed, resulting in emotional neglect and cptsd. I think it is difficult to grow up autistic without enduring emotional trauma and neglect. Our society is designed in a way that is antithetical to the way that having an autistic brain requires you to function. Because of that we live in a society that traumitizes autistic children from a very young age. We are forced to learn masking or be punished, to the point that the masking we are doing is so ingrained into our body's survival mode that it is unconscious. My experience as an autistic person is so intertwined with my trauma, I could not separate them. I think the hardest part for you is going to be screening people so you can adequately group them. Cptsd and different types of neurodivergence can present so similarly and have high comorbidity rates.

Instant follow. This kind of research is so important, thank you for sharing! I remember reading about how professionals have a hard time distinguishing between trauma and neurodivergence because society does not create untraumatized neurodivergent people, and that stuck with me ever since.

have you heard of the Adverse Childhood Experience (A.C.E) study? if not I highly recommend looking into it. It's more evidence to back what you're saying

And this world is not designed for neurodivergent people, so pretty much everyone who has autism is gonna also have CPTSD because we’re traumatized as heck. 😭

CPTSD, I have everything except for the high achieving because I also have fear of failure but I DID try and failed at everything, not because I can't do it but when I get tested I fail.

Whew! This resonates so deeply with my lived experience. I'd love to join your webinar, but I live abroad and the time difference would make this challenging. Will it be available to view afterwards?

ooh this is for me because folks have tried to diagnose me (usually in comment sections) as autistic but that never lined up much with my experience. But I for sure have CPTSD and lived in high functioning survival mode for 34 years of my life
