At my house, we do not risk it. If it says it may contain wheat. We do not buy it.

if it has a gluten free label then yes. The gluten free label trumps the “may contain wheat” label! Coming from someone who’s had celiac for 7 years!!

Absolutely not. Why would I buy something that says it might contain the very thing that can get me sick?

Yes. I’m not allergic to wheat, I’m celiac.
I think a lot of people haven’t taken the time to learn how food manufacturing and labeling laws actually work. Advisory statements like “may contain wheat” are voluntary and don’t tell you how much gluten, is actually present. Especially if it’s labeled gluten free but says may contain wheat. That statement isn’t for me. It’s for someone allergic to wheat. Because gluten free is under 20ppm. Not 0ppm.
Sometimes I feel like parts of the gluten-free industry, especially some certified gluten-free brands, have convinced people they need to buy the most expensive products to be safe.
Everyone has to make their own choices, but after 25 years with celiac disease, I make mine based on science, labeling laws, and how food manufacturing actually works.

if it's labeled gluten free and says may contain wheat, yes I will eat it (that means it's testing under 20ppm for gluten but may be a risk for those with a true wheat allergy which I do not have). if it's not labeled gluten free and says may contain, no I will not eat that.
