I started teaching in 92 and made 26k. My first home cost me 95k. Teachers now start at 60k and that same home is now worth 432k. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re imagining anything. 😂😂

These comments are not helpful or kind….The world we live in today is not comparable to what our parents lived in as far as making money, housing market, job market, cost of groceries and making enough to pay for the cost of living now!

It took my family 7 years to save $5000 for the down payment on our first home that we purchased in 1984. The interest rate was 10% on that house. The combined income of my husband and I was $26,000. It wasn’t easy. But we didn’t have new cars, we didn’t have all the techno gadgets, nail and hair salon visits, or pay $10 a day for a cup of coffee. Or go out to eat multiple times in a week . We lived very frugally to be able to afford that house. Both of my children are in their 30s and own their homes. They did the exact same thing that their father and I did to be able to afford them.

Yes they worked hard, but working the same amount does not get you what they were able to buy. It’s completely different.

why can nobody seem to be able to grasp the concept of inflation???. When they worked hard to afford that 200k house that's now worth 4x that, EVERYTHING else was in that price percentage. Gas was $1 where it's $4 now and so on

Same way I did in the exact same situation..See I am 68 and my dad bought his 2nd house in 1974 in San Diego for $51k....In 2005 when he passed that same house was worth over $600k and he willed it to his 2nd wife of 10 years...Moral to this story is I didn't care cause I was and still am a self made man...He got his..I got mine...

And just think even right now you can buy a house just about anywhere for under 150k even San Diego California. So what's your point?

Imagine having parents who own property. Not all of us will inherit a dime. Enjoy.

My grandma is amazed at how terrible things are, she said off minimum wage with a single income her family was still able to afford a decent house and live comfortably.

Today’s economic crisis is not sustainable. I bought my house in 2019, it has increased in value by $300K, that’s with no updates. I couldn’t buy my house now
