I would also add: the 50th Games is the second Games in a row where the Victor was an underdog who used the Arena to win. I have to imagine that the reason we see slightly more naturalistic Arenas in the 73rd/74th is that they realized the more abstract/unnatural Arena features were too easy to notice and abuse. In Katniss’ era, there is a greater focus on stealth and naturalism (like the force field in the training center). Even in the 75th games, the Arena itself is fairly naturalistic and the mutts don’t have obvious entry/exit points.

Haymitch was punished severely because he wasnt meant to win and his victory embarrassed tge Capitol. Haymitch understood this and thats why he pushed everyone away as he knew the Capitol would use harming those he held dear against him

from the final 3 I definitely think Wellie would have been the best victor for the capital. easy to control, if Silka hadn't found her, they could have spun it around as "manipulated Haymitch into helping her" but also "Haymitch, District 12, left her in the end"

they need to give the districts a winner. always. Haymitch gave a LOT of trouble and couldn’t control him but they could use him as an example. they also edited his games and everyone ‘forgot’ about the original thing. It made Haymitch and a rebellion look bad

it for the drama the show i think they needed a big final show at the end if they just kill Haymitch it would have been underwelming for the big 50th game they cant do underwelming more after everything that happend but im sure they though silka would win easy
