@ajsaxsma: “If I’m not excited about a scene, I will skip it for one I am excited about” Something is missing that the writer can’t see yet #scenewriting #writingascene #scenes #storyscene #howtowriteascene

If you aren’t excited to write the scene your readers won’t be excited to read it, and maybe it needs a bit of tweaking to give it a purpose that can make it something enjoyable to everyone. That’s what I learned, at least

You're just great. When you say it I’m like, “yeah, I get it.” 😁 I guess everything should matter no matter how small.

I think that "driver" part should be a video of its own because that actually made me realize something. I often think my driver needs to be my MC and I just realized it does not. that is going to make writing the scene I've been struggling with sooooo much easier.

Don't worry. After you've re-read it 50 times in editing, you won't want to look at it again, no matter how excited you were to write it. 😁

i would really appreciate an advice or multiple on this. How do I deal with scenes that feel major to me as the author? I don't usually outline, because outlining gives me this sense of achievement of writing the story already, and I become lax and end up not writing anything for days or months on end. What i do is, i take my work, one scene at a time, and sometimes my character guide me, and I end up changing some things. But sometimes there are monumental scenes that are very important to the plot that feel big to me and are very important, that I end up messing them up or feeling like they are underwhelming. They don't have that much impact like I expected in my brain, or I get so nervous about writing that scene that I just avoid it altogether. But I usually write my story one scene at a time. I don't know how to skip, because if I end up skipping and I go back, I might end up rewriting the scenes because a change in direction happened in the scene i skipped that later greatly impacted the scene i already wrote. So it's like I'm just doing everything all over again. ( idk if that’s a good thing) how do you recommend I overcome that, I don't really know what to call it, but maybe I'll call it that anxiety that the scene will not be good as good as I thought in my head. it's been happening and I've mostly been disappointed with the outcome that it makes me lose my motivation to even write after that scene. It’s more challenging because i published my work chapter by chapter so i don’t have the luxury to work on an arc of a huge part of the book before posting.

So I'm writing a scene where both main characters are involved in an earthquake, one experiences PTSD, the other saves people, would the driver be both of them there?

I suck at the first type, getting confessions out of murderer scenes. It feels too big, and find myself bored.... any advice?
