One of the killers is infamous for two gangland hits and was pictured wearing gloves before murdering Bevan. Newly released CCTV footage shows the moment a child killer glances nervously over his shoulder as three convicted murderers follow him into his cell, leaving him to bleed to death from more than 25 stab wounds. Kyle Bevan, 33, was serving time at HMP Wakefield – a Category A prison known as ‘Monster mansion’ – for the July 2020 killing his two-year-old stepdaughter, Lola James, when he was targeted by Lee Newell, 57, Mark Fellows, 47, and David Taylor, 64. The men were sentenced to life on Friday for murdering Beven in a savage four minute and 39 second attack on 4 November 2025, having been found guilty the previous day. Bevan was stabbed in the neck and body with a piece of metal taken from the back of a television and fashioned into a blade, and further injuries were caused with another weapon. Bevan, who died of blood loss, was not found until roll call the next morning, after his murderers tucked him up into his bed so it looked like he was sleeping. CCTV footage shows Fellows, known as “The Iceman” and the “Wakefield Dexter” by other inmates, wearing blue plastic gloves before carrying out the hit, and laughing and joking with his co-conspirators ahead of the crime. The court heard the men targeted certain inmates – including sex offenders and those convicted of crimes against children – with prosecutors suggesting they may have sought a transfer out of HMP Wakefield. During sentencing, Mrs Justice McGowan said two of the murderers restrained Bevan by his arms while he was stabbed to the neck and torso, then left to bleed to death. “His last moments must have been terrifying,” she said. West Yorkshire Police's senior investigating officer, Chief Inspector James Entwistle, said:

Fellows, Taylor and Newell’s actions showed a complete disregard for life and for the rules designed to keep people safe in custody. "By their very nature, prisons are designed to deny offenders of their liberty, but they also need to be environments that are kept safe from unlawful violence.” Fellows is infamous for shooting dead ‘gangland kingpins’ Paul Massey and John Kinsella. At the time of Bevan’s murder, Newell was already serving a life sentence for killing his neighbour, Mary Neal, 56, in Norwich in 1988. Taylor admitted the murder of Alisha Apostoloff-Boyarin, who was reported missing by her family in February 2022. Her body was never recovered. He additionally attempted to murder a GMP detective in prison in 2024, during a premeditated attack while in prison awaiting trial for Miss Apostoloff-Boyarin murder.
