he just thought Melanie won't take him back after ending things during that recoupling so he went in all for Sol. but during that chat with Mel he saw the door was still open that's why he took the first chance he got to go back to mel. Je never chose Sol, America did.

Mel ended it saying she’s done. He can’t be rejected so he threw him self into sol. But she didn’t even choose to leave him. So he still wanted Mel, took a chance and saw she was clearly not done with him. Comes down to just wanting to be wanted and can’t handle rejection.
