She semi parented Bella while she was a baby through to child. My theory is because all those fast hitting milestones and growth kept her attention. I’m betting Charlie did most of the night feeds. Renee dressed her cute like a doll for attention. Also think about all the attention people give to parents with small children. Once she hits school age Renee wasn’t getting the dopamine or attention so she is no longer interested. And Bella has to fend for herself.

I always thought that it made a lot of sense for Bella to fall for Edward's "chivalry" and wanting to take care of her and the safety of The Cullens because it was the first time she got to be taken care of and be treated like the heroines of the love stories she loved so much
