It’s been 20yrs. For the first few, I was so anti-corporate, but once you start getting promotions and the money flows in for what is a relatively cushy job, you need to learn to relax into it, be a positive, nice person and make decent relationships to continue to support you along the way, be good to those around you without being a pushover, and you’ll be fine. My creativity and personal development is ALL in my private life - my family, friends and hobbies - I have no need to treat work like it’s personal.

After ONLY working pedestrian jobs like fast food, retail, etc. and FINALLY landing an accounting job… I love it. The guaranteed hours, better pay, PTO, benefits… never had it. So the M-F, 8-5 is the dream for me. People need to understand that you can’t project your ego and desires onto others because your desires are your’s alone. I’m happy. I’m healthy. I have a stable job. Fuck yeah I’m grateful.

My 9 to 5 is the only thing I don’t have to worry about or schedule around or adjust for. It’s there every day 9 to 5 making easy money. EVERYTHING ELSE is playtime travel shopping leisure. People underestimate the stress relief of having a job that is set and out of the way you know where your money is coming from no struggle no hustle. 9 to 5 (or in my case 8 to 4:30) every day. 5 days a week. 1 hr paid lunch. 15 min from where I live. For a lot of us it’s not terrible or unmanageable.

It's just hit and miss... Some office jobs are cool and all. If it's chill, then enjoy it. The time to run away may eventually come, but when it's a good season, it's definitely nice.

No seriously they pay me good money I have good benefits and I don't work nights or weekends what's to complain about? I used to work 14 hours shifts breaking my body 6 days a week as a server, now I sit at a desk all day like IM GOOD 😅
