This is the sound of a 30-megawatt data centre in Dowagiac, Michigan. But what will it look like if we get these centres in Australia, could our native wildlife be affected? As more and more data centres are built around the world, we need to ask ourselves what this means for the local wildlife. Noise pollution, habitat clearing, artificial lighting, increased energy demand, and high water consumption can all affect our local ecosystems. Australia is already one of the world's largest data centre markets, with more than 200 facilities operating across the country.
