genshin has real, corporeal gods that you can run into while doing ur shopping there would be no differing religions just kpop-esque fights about which archon is the best to follow primarily (for non-vision holders, for vision holders i imagine it’s a bit more like an astrological sign but like. More.)

Some people need to realise genshin doesnt make the character 1:1 with what they're inspired by. Examples like these are Alhaitham,Escoffier,Azdaha & Zhongli, the whole of the fatui but esp columbina,pierrot & arlecchino,nahida,what alhaitham&kaveh's dynamic is based on and much much more examples. mfs who said alhaitham would be homophobic say it bcuz they want to make alhaitham and kaveh's ship problematic. I,myself dont ship them as I dont see their dynamic as romantic but people are free to ship whoever they want bcuz Hoyoverse wont ever make a ship canon so no ships are ever gonna be canon.To top it off,ships arent even supposed to be canon.

It’s such a ridiculous headcanon because if I remember correctly (sorry if I’m wrong) Alhaitham’s canonically skeptical about Gods. Not only that, he wears tight clothing and drinks alcohol which is a strict prohibition of Islam 😭 Yes, there are muslims who don’t follow those rules, but IF Alhaitham had Islamic references it would be disrespectful for Genshin to represent Islam in such a way. I absolutely dislike this headcanon of him being Muslim so much!

inspiration does not equal exact copy but it also doesn’t erase the cultural or religious context of its source. If we say ‘real religions don’t exist so this character can’t be considered religious,’ then by that same logic, none of the real-world cultures, traditions, or influences in Genshin ‘exist’ either, which contradicts how the game is designed and interpreted.
