People want the brightest neon tetras all the time but someone once asked me for a very specific rosy red minnow that she formed an attachment to. It looked the same as the other hundreds in there. She needed that specific one. It took 20 minutes of catching random fish and asking her if it was him. 😭

Customer today said they had a 55 gallon with one neon tetra, nothing else in the tank and they wanted the 2 baby neons we had. (Istg they were like .5”) Ok. Great. I finally netted the damn things only for her to ask about our sunburst shark. I said I wouldn’t recommend those with the neons, especially as they were babies and VERY tiny. She goes “oh. So will the red tail shark I have in there be a problem with these?” YES. She did not get the tetras. Then she chose different, larger tetras instead. Which I also caught. 🥲

yea no it was the opposite for me i was going to buy neon tetras and the lady asked do you want any specific ones dawg they're moving at mach jesus i'll take whatever u can manage to grab 😭🙏

Unless it’s a really specific fish that a person could actually track easily and catch then I never request. I always say do your best or pick me out some good ones lol. I also step back and look around the products near by, always within eyesight but not to hover closely and have the employee feel pressured while catching the fish. Cause those fishes can be hard to catch sometimes 😂

the only time I accept this is if the costumer requests "I don't want anything specific, however if you can grab me the healthiest looking fish I'll be happy". Regardless I always go for healthy fish, but if there's 10+ fish in a tank I am NOT getting a specific one unless it's extremely obvious 🤣

I know my aquatic’s store loves me because i requested at least 1/13 albino cardinal tetras had red eyes (50/50 split in the shop tank) and he picked me out a few extras 😅
