During rush, they’re trying to get to know YOU, so one of the questions you’ll hear all the time is, “What were you involved in during high school?” They ask this all the time because it’s an easy way to get you talking about something you actually love! 💕 Fun fact: You’re often paired with someone in the chapter who’s from a similar hometown or high school, or who shares some of your interests. It’s intentional! The goal is to give you something in common and make the conversation feel more natural. So when she asks what you were involved in, don’t panic and start listing every club, sport, and activity on your resume. Pick one or two things you genuinely loved and tell her about them! That gives her a much better chance to actually get to know you and keeps the conversation going. Try this: 1️⃣ Name the activity. 2️⃣ Explain what you actually did there. 3️⃣ Add why you liked it or talk about the friendships you made from it! So instead of: “I did student council, cheer, Key Club, and NHS.” Try: “I was really involved in student council, and I loved planning school events. That became one of my favorite parts of high school. I’m super interested in getting involved in leadership roles in a sorority too!” Or: “I played volleyball for four years, and I loved having a group of girls I saw every day. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to join a sorority, because close friendships like that are really important to me. I’d love to hear more about your sisterhood! How did you meet your very best friends in the chapter?” Now the member has something to respond to. And if you weren’t involved in a million clubs, don’t panic. Jobs, volunteering, family responsibilities, hobbies, and sports can all be great conversation topics, too. 👠💕 Rushing this year or next and want more help practicing the questions you’ll actually hear during recruitment? 💕 We share tons more on convo prep inside The Insider Pass, along with new recruitment tips and resources every month!
