i was a children’s swim coach for years. swim lessons as soon as your child is of age are extremely important. do not let the birds in these comments convince you it is a fad or unimportant. it is your child’s safety

Not sure what school you looked up but Swell Swim School is the absolute BEST!! They do mommy and me swim lessons. Pricey but sooooo worth it. I did them for my son and honestly I’m so glad I did.

We’ve been doing swim classes since our baby was 4 months (she’s 7 months now) and they have classes in levels. It builds SO much confidence for them aside from water safety. Also, you do NOT have to do certain drills if you do not feel comfy doing so, we absolutely do not feel comfortable with throwing them and letting them float NOPE haha but we are okay with everything else. Water safety is SO impactful!

I took my son starting at 5 months to a swim school but they don’t just throw them in at our school. We do submerge them though. Parents swim with them. My son loved it!

we’re in fresno too and decided to just start with a baby and me class with Hillside Swim, my son is 5 months old and loves it it’s been really gentle and classes are only 30 min long

i taught swim for years please please please pleaseeeee put them in swim lessons and in ISR lessons if possible! it’s not just a fun skill, it’s a life saving one!!! kids can drown so quickly and it’s the #1 cause of death for children!! it’s so important!

Both my kids started at 4 months and it is the ONE activity I will absolutely make sure they stay in. Water safety is no joke! My 2.5 year old is a fish now - she loves it and my 1 year old isn’t quite as obsessed but he doesn’t scream. It took a few weeks of them going to get used to it and having the same instructor each week really helped!

As a person that was taught this way .. I'm great . Went on to swim team and I still love swimming . lol 😂 it doesn't look pretty but babes are okay . Also my dad was always in the pool with me or beside

My 5 1/2 month old just had his first lesson today & he loved it!! They did have us pour some water on his face but no submerging yet! Just getting comfortable in the water 😊

I feel you, I was thinking of doing swim lessons for my daughter, but I work for a doctor and I was talking to her about it and she said that in reality there’s never gonna be a time where your baby’s gonna be by themselves by a body of water. So no need to put them through that at least until they’re over a year old. That kind of made sense to me!! so I’m going to hold off on the torture I feel you

We’ve been doing swim lessons since he was a year and they never do that at ours I’d cry 😂😂 we get in with them and work on kicking, back floats, climbing out of a pool, being underwater for up to 10 seconds. And ours is bougie in my wallets opinion 😅

My son hated it the first 3 lessons but now he LOVES it. It’s something my husband does with him and it’s their special time now 🥹 I also don’t sleep train bc I cannot let my bebe cry but it felt different honestly because you could slowly see him get more comfy in the water which is our goal with it. He may not be a great swimmer but he will know how to float!

I was a swim instructor for years until I had my baby this year she’s now almost 6 months old and has been in lessons since 4 and already has an immediate understanding of her epiglottal reflux I will do more research on schools curriculum less boujee. Aqua tots is where I worked and my daughter goes plus at 4 months to 2.5 years it’s all parent and baby classes and a slow process into advancement. Teach them and get them confident young because introducing it later for the first time is harder for them to adjust and understand. It is so important to be water safe anywhere everywhere because this could even save a life in a bath tub

It’s useless at that age. I took my son at 18 months and he HATED it, so we waited till this summer - he’s 5.5 and is OBSESSED. He can swim on his own now - 3 weeks into lessons. He’s so excited to do it every other day now.
