I've been a welder fabricator for 30 years, the first 20 in the states, but i live in Scotland now, where we use metric, and its far easier. what's quicker to do in your head, 2 7/16-11/32, or 58-12

Having learnt my toolmaking trade in imperial then converting over to metric a few years later, it was a bit of a mission as lathes, mills, grinders, etc were all calibrated in inches. But after several years of using metric and machines using metric dials, it was a breeze using metric

milimeter is world, but i dont ditch inch, inch is more simple in some way. like hollow or pipe diameter, with inch is makes more sense than milimeter. it become more complicated in milimeter. so both have advantage and disadvantage👍
