People being shocked that the wife read something in HER home that had been put in the bin, is wild. It's her home! She didn't go to her in laws home and open and read their mail. She saw a letter/paper in her own bin that she didn't recognise, and read. OP is right for being angry that OPs father is so indifferent towards a child he made, while claiming to be a good dad because he didn't also abandon OP.
