a personal recommendation of mine is Hongdian n8, I don't have many fountain pen to compare but it's gorgeous and writes very smoothly, even if i haven't touched it in a month it writes like butter the moment I put pen to paper and I've never encountered any ink skipping. I was kinda skeptical when I wanted to buy it cause even though I loved the maple leaf design and it was perfectly within my price range, I haven't seen any reviews on it but it was absolutely worth it
