I’m an ICU nurse 2 days a week and home with kids the rest of the time. Most of my friends are SAHM’s. The gulf between what I consider an emergency and what my friends consider an emergency gets genuinely awkward sometimes.

right, my wife works corporate and talks about these urgent last minute deadlines and I sit here like?? all of that is a made up arbitrary urgency. This is why i like healthcare, an emergency is an actual emergency.

I’m a surgeon… in the outside world, when a minor incident happens where everyone is clearly fine, and people either strongly react or rush like it’s a big deal, I find that my internal eyebrow raise about that and reaction of “meh” is pretty robust lol. When you know what urgent/emergent/medically bad looks like, having that context really shows how ppl make a big deal of nothing so often!

Me as helllll. I’m a high risk L&D RN so if no mom or baby is critical, delivering, or dying, then it’s going to be fine. Also my irritation for my family not taking their prescribed medications has gone through the roof.

I used to work with someone who would say, "Relax, it's all just burgers and fries," (meaning not life or death.) Switching careers to work in the ER really solidified what's actually life and death and what's just all burgers and fries.

I have this issue 😭😅 it will cause me to completely ignore it because I just can’t tolerate someone acting like it’s the end of the world over something that isn’t. When I truly see what could be the end of the world if a deadline is missed in healthcare.
