I work the front desk too. I am by myself. I answer the phones, verify insurance, prior authorization sometimes, gets paper work together. If it was not for us the office would not run smoothly for the nurses and doctors. Yes we get yelled all the time about everything. I tell the pts to take it up with the dr. They say I will. When the pt comes out of the rooms I ask them did they talk to the dr they say no. They are scared to say anything to the dr because if they do then the doctor my might no give them what they want.

I literally just had a patient on Friday ask me “why don’t you guys answer the phone anymore i can’t even reach you guys?” I informed her that i apologize but we now have a call center and they need to transfer her to us. She proceeded to say “oh well idk why you guys don’t answer your just sitting there doing nothing waiting for a call” I got so offended and said “I’m sorry I’m actually helping patient right now as we speak, the doctor have over 100 patients and your not the only one that needs help, your actually stoping me from helping someone else by having this conversation so excuse while I get back to work”

mentally and emotionally draining i have no energy for anything afterwords. and though its not "physical" it is for my brain constantly multitasking and trying to make everyone happy and make things run smooth.
