Believe it or not, that little candle is actually generating electricity! This is the PiggyPower Ember, a thermoelectric generator designed to turn heat into usable electrical power. It's made for small heat sources like candles, Sterno cans, camping stoves, and just about anything else that produces enough heat to get it running. The Ember has three USB ports, each capable of producing up to 3 watts of power. To put that into perspective, at maximum output, just one of those ports could put roughly a full charge into a typical smartphone in around 8 hours, depending on the phone and charging losses. That might not sound like much until you're in a power outage and that little bit of electricity is the difference between being able to make a phone call and having a completely dead phone. Even with something as small as a candle, the Ember can still produce enough electricity to slowly trickle charge a phone under the right conditions or power small USB devices and lights. And the coolest part? There's no fuel stored inside, no battery required, and no moving parts. As long as you can keep a sufficient temperature difference across the thermoelectric modules, you're generating electricity. I designed the PiggyPower Ember myself, and I personally build and assemble every single one right here in the USA. It's a pretty incredible feeling seeing something I originally designed turn into a product that people all over the country are now using. Thank you to everyone who's supported PiggyPower and helped make this possible!
